Lower blepharoplasty treats fat pads and skin laxity under the eyes. Depending on the technique used (transconjunctival or transcutaneous), it removes or redistributes herniated fat for naturally rested eyes. Repositioning of the lateral canthus may be added whenever eyelid laxity is noted on examination, to avoid any post-operative rounding of the eye.

How the procedure works
Consultation
The technique is chosen according to your anatomy: transconjunctival (no external scar) or subciliary.
Anaesthesia
Local with sedation, or general, as a day case.
The procedure
Transconjunctival approach for fat pads without excess skin. Subciliary approach when excess skin is also present. 45 to 90 minutes.
Recovery at the clinic
Monitoring for 2 to 3 hours. Discharge the same day.
Frequently asked questions
The transconjunctival approach goes through the inside of the eyelid: no visible scar, ideal for fat pads without excess skin. The subciliary approach also allows excess skin to be removed, leaving a fine scar just below the lashes. Your surgeon will advise the technique best suited to your case.
